Communicating & Influencing

Having the confidence and skills to communicate is essential to everyone. Many of the problems that occur in an organisation are the direct result of people failing to communicate or lacking the skills to communicate in a positive and powerful way.

Effective communication is the cornerstone of good relationships and the lifeblood of any organisation. Superb communication is the precursor to being able to influence others to want to do what you want or need them to do, in order to achieve the desired results.

Objectives

• Understand what the barriers are to effective communication
• Identify the essentials of positive and assertive communication
• Be more aware of your own communication style and how others perceive it
• Appreciate the different communication styles and how to tailor your message in order to get the best out of them
  Understand the impact of non-verbal communication
• Be able to construct and deliver your message with confidence and impact and to encourage a positive response
  Improve your ability to give and receive constructive feedback
• Demonstrate appropriate listening skills
• Use a process for handling difficult communication situations
• Understand the importance of planning your approach to influencing and how and when to use different influencing strategies
• Practice using positive influencing language and apply best practise techniques for using influencing skills
  

Target Audience

This course is aimed at team members, team leaders or supervisors, who communicate with and influence others face-to-face, in meetings, on the telephone or in writing, and need to improve their effectiveness by developing new skills.
