The world today seems a much smaller place than its physical size would portray. Many of us travel for both work and leisure and contact with other cultures is the norm. The ease of our involvement with other cultures sometimes means that we don’t recognise the differences in others – such experiences may lead us to assume that ‘everyone is the same’ – This is not the case – everyone is different and we need to recognise, acknowledge and embrace differences, after all even people who belong to the same cultural background are different.

This course is designed to reinforce participants’ understanding of the value of diversity in the workplace and commit to a way of working that demonstrates their beliefs.

  • Explore why diversity makes great business sense - a reminder of the framework of policies and legislation that cover this topic
  • Explore your own ‘Personal Frame of Reference’  - be able to identify all the assumptions that are made about people and circumstances that are different and relate this to your own experiences
  • Increased understanding of your own personal style and the importance of flexing it in order to work more effectively with others
  • Discuss the role of leadership, followership and diversity
  • Understand the value of diversity in the workplace and take practical steps to leverage this
  • Decide upon two things that should be done differently to utilise diversity as an asset/resource
