Challenge

To make tangible improvements in team morale, motivation, co-operation and performance at the University of Middlesex. To comply with suggestions made by the Higher Education Funding Council that universities need to pay more attention to management specifically team working issues.   

Solution

SIA Group were asked to assess team working skills and further improve team performance within a number of the University's teams. SIA Group identified potential barriers before working with the team leaders to develop an action plan to address these. The action plan included a programme of coaching with the Senior Managers leading the teams.

Result

Senior Mangers have found that by implementing the new action plan team members are now more engaged as a group as they understand that they often share similar concerns.

SIA Group will continue to support the Senior Managers and their teams in driving through these changes to benefit the University, the teams and the individuals themselves.
