How to get the most out of your course
Top Tips:
- Be clear about your goals for attending and of your WIIFM (what's in it for me?) factor.
- Complete all pre-work and pre-reading assigned to you.
- Participate fully, ask questions, volunteer ideas, challenge one another - the other participants are also depending on you!
- Read the workbook and handouts more than once, and make notes on them.
- Actively take personal notes during the sessions - annotation will give these documents real meaning for you.
- Try not to judge ideas until you have tried them out - you may be asked to try some 'unusual' things to encourage you to step out of your 'comfort zone.'
- Take action as a result of your learning, both inside and outside of work.
- Teach someone else (colleague, friend, partner) at least one thing that you have learned from each topic covered - this is a hugely powerful way of learning.
- Undertake additional research on the bits that you find most interesting and useful e.g. reading, surfing the net, discussing with colleagues etc.
- Make full use of your best resource - each other. Consider meeting up again, a group email list, phone prompts, meeting up outside of work…
- Take advantage of any feedback you received.
- Keep a personal progress log and a constantly up-to-date Action Plan.
We are happy to hear from you any time... whether you're looking for inspiration, ideas, extra information, or to give us feedback about the programme.
